The housing stock in the Dunbar area of Vancouver has undergone significant change in the past five years. Originally a working class neighbourhood with many quite modest homes surrounded by lovely gardens, it is now a neighbourhood that 99% of the people working in Vancouver cannot afford because the replacement homes are built to the maximum footprint and cost millions. Greenspace has been reduced. Included on this website are photos of many (not all) of the disappeared houses.

Demolished in 2012 on West 22nd and 23rd

We already have 8 demolished houses from West 22nd and 23rd Avenue on this blog, but here are 4 more:
3553 West 23rd Avenue. Torn down Summer 2012.

3563 West 23rd Avenue, torn down Summer 2012.  This one and the one above are near Dunbar Street, where the first houses were built in the 1920's. An indicative feature is the shape of the porch posts, larger at the bottom than at the top.  Both houses are close to their original condition, at least at the front. How many of these originals will be left?

    3535 West 23rd Ave: You can add our old house (the cottage on the right, beside Jo's (demolished) house).
